Around every 6-12 months, the Plaxo software autoupgrades to the latest build of the Plaxo client. This is done to provide minor patch fixes, incorporate minor new features, and phase out older versions of the client software that are no longer supported (ie: 0.x)

The autoupgade is rolled out over time, so in the coming weeks, members may notice their Plaxo client prompting them to install the latest version. The upgrade should take about a minute to complete and does not require any further action on the member's part.

The latest version of the Plaxo client being autoupgraded to is version 2.4.x.x.

Members can also manually check if they are running the latest version of Plaxo. You can go to the Plaxo / Help / About Plaxo menu to see if you have the latest version. If you do not have the latest version, you will have the option to upgrade from there as well.

Stacy,

Will this upgrade merely update everyone to the current latest version 2.4.1.2, or can we expect to see rollout of a new version (with new features!) in the next week or so? I notice that Plaxo Online now contains specific IM fields for Skype as well as the announced AIM field. Does this mean (and I am speculating hopefully here) that we are going to see a rollout of the new Plaxo bar with presense information for AIM and Skype? I wouldn't expect you guys to turn down the chance of using the Skype API to add this if it isn't too complicated...! I don't expect you to answer the Skype part yet, but it would be nice to know if we are going to see new features in this update. Please let me know!

Keep up the good work. Plaxo is truly graduating into a must have app. It's nice to see that you guys are really putting yourselves out there on building trust awareness - you have commented on almost every Plaxo related blog entry I come across! A great way to repair the initial bad reputation.

Until recently I wouldn't use Plaxo to send clients my contact info because of the perceived spamminess (is that a word?!), but now I am more confident that they will see the benefits over a regular email, and hopefully will signup if they are not members to make staying in touch even easier. I am now using Plaxo all the time, both for work and at home. The only thing missing for me now is the ability to wirelessly sync with my Sony P900 cellphone - I am currently forced to use MightyPhone alongside Plaxo for that. Please can you add SyncML support. I will gladly switch to a Plaxo syncml service if it becomes available.

Sorry went somewhat off topic with all this. I look forward to your reply.

Clients are currently being upgraded to the latest released version of the client - 2.4.1.5 which include a number of enhancements and fixes.

But some of the newest features such as AIM presence and Skype and AIM ScreeName fields are only available through Plaxo Online. It is much easier for us to rollout new functionality through Plaxo Online first.

These feature are also being implemented into the next version of the Plaxo client - 2.5.x.x, which is currently under beta as part of the AIM Triton beta testing. For people who have downloaded the Triton Beta, they will be upgraded to the 2.5 client. Once this beta test has completed, the new client version (and all of its features) will be available directly from the Plaxo download site.

Thanks for the other comments as well.
