Welcome to Plaxo 2.0. From all signs, our 2.0 release will be our best, most exciting release to date with a number of new features and capabilities that we are confident you will enjoy!

As part of our Plaxo 2.0 launch, we have updated our Plaxo Privacy Policy and Terms of Service agreement to encompass our new Plaxo 2.0 functionality and incorporate many of the great suggestions you have given us over the past many months.

Since the inception of Plaxo, the privacy and security of our members, their information, and the information of their contacts has been our #1 priority.

We believe we have one of the strongest privacy policies in the industry. Our Privacy Policy ensures our members maintain ownership rights over their information at all times and gives members complete control over how and with whom they share their personally identifiable information. We have always been guided by 6 simple principles that are collectively referred to as our Plaxo Privacy Principles:

  1. Your Information is your own and you decide who will have access to it.

  2. You maintain ownership rights to Your Information, even if there is a business transition or policy change.

  3. You may add, delete, or modify Your Information at any time.

  4. Plaxo will not update or modify Your Information without your permission.

  5. Plaxo will not sell, exchange, or otherwise share Your Information with third parties, unless required by law or in accordance with your instructions.

  6. Plaxo does not send spam, maintain spam mailing lists, or support the activities of spammers.

Weve always tried to make our Privacy Policy simple, understandable, and easy to read in order to fully inform you as to what information we manage, how this information is used, and what are your rights when using Plaxo. Our privacy practices continue to be validated and certified by the trusted 3rd party Privacy Seal Program run by TRUSTe.

With the release of Plaxo 2.0, we continue to provide the strictest privacy policy around. But weve also listened to the feedback weve received from privacy advocates, enterprise users, and most of all, you, our members about the privacy issues that concern you the most. Weve taken this input and incorporated it into our new updated Plaxo Privacy Policy.

For example, many of you asked for clarification on what happens to your information should Plaxo go through a business transition such as a merger or acquisition. Our updated Plaxo Privacy Policy now includes a specific section labeled: Change of Ownership or Other Business Transition. Should a business transition occur, this section fully outlines that you will retain ownership rights to Your Information and the ability to delete Your Information at any time.

Other changes weve made to our Plaxo Privacy Policy include:

  • Inclusion of Version History and Change Log information. We now post a log of changes to our Privacy Policy so you know whats changed and when.
  • A specified Backups retention period. We retain system backups for 30 days before they are deleted.
  • Inclusion of Safe Harbor Principles and EU Directive information. Plaxo has received TRUSTes certification that we participate in and abide by the EU Safe Harbor Framework as outlined by the US Department of Commerce and the European Union.
  • And going forward, we now specify a 30 day effective notification period for significant changes to the Plaxo Privacy Policy.

Members will be notified of changes to our Plaxo Privacy Policy via e-mail and/or a notification on our home page. In addition, we believe we will be the first Internet service to provide the ability to receive notifications of Privacy Policy changes through an RSS feed. Anyone may subscribe to this feed to receive timely notifications of any changes that may occur.

I encourage you to check out our updated Plaxo Privacy Policy and Whats New document, as well as our new Privacy and Security section of the Plaxo Web Site. Here youll find answers to the most common Plaxo Privacy and Security questions, and other resources including a Privacy Matrix of Plaxo and other popular Internet Services.

But most of all, I encourage you to give Plaxo 2.0 a try! Members have raved how easy Plaxo is to use and that Plaxo is the best service for managing their contact information. With Plaxo 2.0, we feel the best has only gotten better.

As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding Plaxos Privacy Policy or Terms of Service, please contact me at: privacy @t plaxo.com. Or join me in a public discussion with other users in our Plaxo Community Forums.

Thank you,

Stacy Martin
