Attention: Plaxo Customers Using Google Sync
Google Sync is back! In the short time Google Sync was offline we were working closely with Google’s security team to upgrade our syncing and security processes.
Malicious parties attempted to use an outdated Plaxo widget to access Google accounts, but the suspicious activity was detected and the perpetrators identified. For security reasons, the Google Sync service with Plaxo was temporarily disabled, but now it’s back and better than ever.
Re-activate Google Sync
You can re-activate your Google Sync using the new, easier and more secure OAuth method with Plaxo by simply clicking here. Or, follow these three simple steps:
- Login to Plaxo.com and allow Plaxo to access your Google account.
- Re-enable your Google Sync using OAuth.
- View step-by-step instructions.
How we enhanced security
We retired the Address Book (AB) widget and replaced it with OAuth, a more secure industry standard. It allows users to share private resources across sites without the need for sharing their credentials. Facebook and Google are the largest implementers of the OAuth standard.
Our customers’ privacy and the security of their data is of the utmost importance. We will continue working diligently to deliver you the best apps and services possible in a secure environment.
Thank you for your patience as we corrected this process and re-enabled Google Sync. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions at help.plaxo.com.
